Kai stood on the edge of the lake as the wind blew against her bare arms. She felt really down. Something had been bothering her the past couple of days. She felt as though a dark cloud was hovering over her and someone was watching her. Shivering she looked down into the lake and saw her reflection. Even though she knew no one was there with her a black shadow was in the water next to her. Kai turned quickly to see that the place was empty. "I must just be imagining things," she whispered. Kai then turned back to the water and sighed. Wrapping her jacket around her she tried to think of something posotive, but nothing came to mind. Sighing she picked up a rock and threw it into the water. Right before the splash she heard someone coming in her direction. The moment the rock went Kai had turned into a wolf. Her white fur bristled and she bared fangs. "Leave me alone," she growled.

Zandra walked through the open, following the sweet scent of lake water as she went. When she came near the bank of the lake, she saw a little girl who'd just turned into a wolf. She knew someone else who could do that, and wondered if this little girl was the same as the man she'd met. Zandra stopped walking when she heard the wolf girl growl, looking a little scared. "I-I'm sorry." Zandra was completely ready to turn around and walk away, but something seemed wrong. Taking a small step towards the wolf, Zandra asked "Is...is there something wrong?" Though most people couldn't see it on animals, Zandra recognized emotions on them, and something was wrong witht his one.

Kai looked at the girl she'd turned on and immediate embaressment and guilt swept over her. She was so jumpy that she didn't even think befoe she turned. "I'm so sorry," she said as she turned back. "I'm just a bit nervous," she said. "Nothing to worry about though," she said trying to smile kindly. "I'm Kai," she said trying to change the conversation.

Zandra gave a small sigh as the wolf calmed down and turned back into a little girl. Not thinking twice, Zandra smiled and walked up to the little girl named Kai. "My name's Zandra. Nice to meet you Kai." She was sure that perhaps she seemed a little strange to Kai, walking up to her like she did, but then again, Zandra'd met alot of weird humans, perhaps this wouldn't seem so off. "What are you doing out here by yourself anyways?"

Kai looked at the girl as she started towards her. Kai swallowed nervously, but what could this girl actually do? Even is she was older. "It's nice to meet you too," she said. Kai then shrugged. "I'm just hanging out is all," she said. "I kind of got bored in the village," she said. "What about you?"

Zandra smiled and gave a small shrug at Kai's question. "I just...I like the water and I knew this lake was here, and it's the closest to where I live." Downright. Lie. Zandra was actually hoping no one would be here because she didn't feel like walking all the way out to the unknown again on one of her only days off.

Kai shrugged. "Oh that's cool," she said with a small smile. Kai then looked up at the sky and wondered what she'd do know. This was so akward. "Um, what village are you from," she asked trying to find something to talk about because she was running out of ideas.

Zandra blinked and for a moment the answer almost escaped her. "Oh, um, I'm from the storm village," she said smiling. "How about you?" Deciding that she'd rather sit down, Zandra plopped to the ground with her legs crossed and looked at Kai.

Kai looked at her as she mentioned the Storm. She smiled slightly as she though of Roan. She hadn't seen him in ages and really did miss him. She gave a small sigh. "I'm from the Snow," she said as Zandra sat down. "Do you often come here?"

Zandra smiled, but looked down at Kai's last question and bit her lip lightly. "Well...not really...but..." Zandra knew this would contradict with her story that she'd told Kai earlier. How else could she've known this was the closest to her house if she didn't come here alot? "I sorta...smelled the lake water and came here...." Kai was only a little girl, what harm could it do in telling her? Of course, alot of the time little ones had a hard time keeping secrets...

Kai looked at her and narrowed her eyes. "Are you trying to test my intellegiance or something," she asked in a mild tone. "How can you say it's the closest to your house but then turn around and say you don't come here often. And you just lied to me because you said you just smelled the water.," she said. Kai was suprised at how easily she'd just snapped. "Oops, I'm sorry about that," she said. "Just how do you smell a lake?" She asked. She always though lakes smelled like plain water with the hint of fish that was. If it was an ocean then that'd be different.

Zandra looked down as Kai snapped at her. She knew it was a stupid thing to say. Why didn't she just keep her mouth shut? Her mother'd warned her about saying things like that before she'd come to the surface. "I'm sorry...it's just..." She had no clue how to lie anymore, what to say, how to act...the only way out of this would be to tell her, but there was already one person who knew her secret, how many could she chance telling before someone bad knew? "I'm...sorta...used to the smell of water, opposed to the smell of land......"

Kai looked at her and shook her head. This was giving her a head ache and she had enough problems of her own already. "Don't try and to explain," she said to her with a light smile. "We all have our secrets," she said. Kai then turned to the water to see if she could see the shadow again but there was nothing but her own reflection.

Zandra looked at Kai as she told her not to explain and couldn't help but give her a smile. "Thank you." Following Kai's gaze to the water, Zandra looked back at Kai, trying not to appear worried. "Are you sure there's nothing wrong though? You seemed kind of upset when I came."

Kai looked at Zandra as she asked her if she was really okay. Kai sighed. I gave you the luxury of not having to explain about the water thing, why can't you give me the same, she thought bitterly. Kai swallowed. "I'm fine, seriosuly," she said with a smile but it soon faded as the water rippled and a voice that only she could hear said: "Darkness will overcome light." Kai blinked and looked at Zandra to see as though she had heard. "Did you say something?"

Zandra gave a small shrug and said "I'm sorry about insisting.." Zandra brought her gaze back to the water and saw a ripple that she assumed to be a fish swimming. After a few moments, she looked at Kai as she asked if she'd said anything. "Oh, well... not really. Maybe it was someone further off?" Now Zandra knew something was off. She hadn't heard a thing.

Kai shrugged. "I guess so," she said as she glanced back to the water. Now I know something is wrong, I've got to speak to Kazuya! But what is he's there.... She though referring to him as Kymir. Sighing she looked at Zandra. "You like strawberries?"

Zandra looked at Kai with a small nod as she said she guessed so and blinked when Kai asked her if she liked....strawberries? Turning a little red, Zandra asked "Uhm...what're strawberries?" She couldn't help but be embarrassed at this. She'd been there over a year and still had no idea what a....strawberry was.

Kai looked at Zandra for a second without speaking. Was...she serious....??? Kai decided to just go with it. Maybe she was foreign or something. Was she from America? Did American people not have strawberries? She must be American because her scent was funny. "Um, it's really good, here," Kai said as she pulled off her back pack and pulled out a box. She took off the lid and gave her a strawberry. "Take it, I've plenty." Kai then took one for herself and started to eat.

Zandra looked down embarrassed as she saw Kai's expression, but then looked at Kai when she handed her some kind of red.....fruit, she supposed. Taking it with an embarrassed smile, Zandra took a bite of it and her face practically lit up. So a strawberry was another human food! Smiling, Zandra looked at Kai. "This is delicious!" she said, finishing off the strawberry.

Kai grinned. "Told you it was good, my aunt started me on them when I was younger, you can't get anough," she said with a small giggle. She then put the container on the ground and Kai sat down on the ground. "Have some more," she said.

Smiling, Zandra took another strawberry. If there was one thing she wasn't shy about, it was food. "Thank you," she said with a small giggle as she took a bite of it.

Kai looked up at the sky and laid back. Sure it was windy and cold, but it was a good day. She sighed and closed her eyes. "You should really come strawberry hunting with me one day," she said keeping her eyes closed. "There are hundreds of strawberries in this one place me and my friend visited." She whispered.

"Strawberry...hunting?" She said as she swallowed a bite of a strawberry. With a small smile, she nodded. "Of course I will." She looked at Kai somewhat in fascination. "Oh really? Hundreds of them? That's alot...." she said, taking another bite of her strawberry.

Kai smiled. "Yep, hundreds," she said as she stood up. "Well, it's getting late and I have to heead back to the village," she said. "People will be worried if I don't get back before dark," she said as she stretched. "See you around, I had fun," she said as she started out. "Oh and you can keep the strawberries, I'll pick more tomorrow." She said as she started to run off.
