| Kaoru stood there like the helpless being she was. Poison, that's what it was. A skilled medical ninja like Serenity would be able to extract poison. Kaoru sighed. She felt so useless right now. Hugging her arms she looked to Alice. "Is there anything I can do to help?" She asked. She didn't want to just leave. That'd make her feel even worse if he died. She swallowed at the thought. Why should it matter to her? She didn't know him, she wasn't responsible for him. No, she wasn't, but she couldn't just abandon him either. |

| Seeing Cross in pain like this, Alice couldn't help but to be scared. He was always so strong, what was going on? Why was he suddenly in so much pain like this? She blinked when the lady asked if there was anything she could do, and then looked at her with a nod. "Can you get me a wet rag please? Cold water, the washcloths are in the bathroom," she said gratefully, though her petite voice was streaked with fear and worry. She then turned back to Cross. "Don't worry, I'll fix you, I promise," she said, like any little child would in this situation. When Cross nodded, she couldn't help but feel a little reassured. Her way of taking poison out was much different than any other healers. When Kaoru came back with the rag, little Alice climbed up on the couch next to Cross and put it over his forehead. She then sat down on her knees on the couch next to Cross, but she was still facing him, and started humming lightly. A slow melodious tune filled the room, as if there was music playing around them. It seemed to have a bit of a calming effect on Cross, even though he was still in obvious pain, and still coughed every now and then. Cross knew mostly what Alice's powers were, but also knew that she had many more that he didn't know about. Her one power: shapeshifting. Her second? Making her thoughts, wants, dreams, into a reality. This was a second reason Cross kept Alice. She was unique. There was a third reason though, one more important than all the rest. If the world found out about Alice, if they knew what she was capable of, wars would be waged over her. She'd be held as a prisoner, or a slave, and she was just a child. Cross would not have it. As she sung her melodious tune, Cross didn't find it easier to breathe, but the tension from all the pain started to melt away, along with the pain he was feeling. She hadn't taken care of the poison yet, but she'd made him relaxed so that she could work better. Alice kept her eyes worriedly on Cross, even as he calmed down. Her black eyes shined lightly as she hummed, knowing that if she didn't do this right, Cross could die. The thing was, Alice had no idea how to do things like this, but normally when she wanted something to happen, it did. And whenever Cross came home injured, Alice would hope and pray that he'd heal quickly, and even the worst of his injuries were gone a few days later. That was how she worked. All her so-called 'magic' was just hoping and wishing. She just pretended like she knew what she was doing so everyone else didn't worry. When she felt that Cross was relaxed enough, the room seemed to fall silent. Please, whatever god rules over this part of the earth...please help Cross... she prayed silently. For a few moments, everything stayed completely silent. And as it seemed, color seemed to start coming back into Cross, as if Alice's silent prayers had actually worked. Though, to everyone else, it would probably seem like her song had just done it. |

| Kaoru immediately got up and headed for the bathroom to retrieve the things Alice had asked for. When she had done so she handed the small girl the things and watched silently as she worked. She could not believe that a simple song could bring someone back like that. As Alice sung she saw Cross relaxing and becoming less pale than he had been. How could she do that? She was just a child. Kaoru wouldn't question it too much, after all, she had just saved Cross's life. |

| (...I just had an idea for what Alice is. I'll PM it to you.)
Alice smiled when she saw that Cross seemed to be getting better. Without hesitation, she hugged him, trying not to cry. She'd thought that Cross might've died if she hadn't done it right. She sniffled, then pulled back and looked at him as he seemed to tense once more. "What's wrong?" she asked. She then gave a light gasp. "D-did it not work this time?" And all over again she became scared.
Cross had started feeling the pain recede, but a whole new wave washed over him when Alice practically jumped on him. He shook his head when she asked if it hadn't worked. "You're...on my arm," he said, hoping that she'd realize that it was his injured one she was on. Once more, he was trying to put on a calm face for Alice's sake, but it was almost like the child could sense his pain.
Alice quickly scrambled off Cross, bowing her head lightly in apology. "Sorry sorry sorry!!" she apologized quickly. And though Cross still gave off a cough every now and then, it was obvious that whatever Alice had done was working.
Though it didn't show on his face, all Cross wanted right now was to sleep. His wings shuddered absently, and his eyes landed on Kaoru. "Thank you for your help," he said almost blankly, as if it were a programmed response. But though it didn't seem it, the black winged messenger meant it. If he'd come home alone, he'd probably have sent Alice out to go play while he took care of his wounds, then the poison would've struck, and then there was no doubt in his mind that he would've died. So yes, he had every reason to be grateful. Perhaps he'd let her see his house after this even after all. |

| Kaoru couldn't help but give a faint smile when Cross stated Alice was on his arm. When the smaller girl apologized Kaoru looked to Kami. Only when Cross spoke to her did she acknowledge him. "Just returning a favor." She gave a small smile and looked towards the door. "I'll be going now," she said. Alice seemed to have done what needed to be done, she would not overstay her welcome. |
