Kazuma had gone straight to his room and took a shower, trying to wash away any remnants of the fight. He wasn't sure if he could remain sane here, knowing his sister was right down the hall, being prepped for an experiment that wasn't even full proof. After dressing in a long sleeved white shirt and black shorts, the former genin sat over the toilet, throwing up and crying. When he couldn't cry anymore, he climbed into bed and forced himself to sleep. He woke up the next morning feeling like crap. Slowly he sat up and looked at his door with a blank expression on his face. "What have I done," he whispered. "What in God's name have I done? I killed my own sister." He rocked lightly as he wrapped his mind around his crime. "What. Have. I. Done?"

Xantrex had stayed up most of the night before figuring out how to put Rin into a coma without damaging her mind and body too much, as well as reviewing all the equations to make sure all was well. Even so, he wasn't in such a bad state the next morning. He was a ninja, a scientist, and an Akatsuki. Those three made for a deadly case of insomnia. Deciding to let Kazuma sleep a bit more, Xantrex took his time with showering and getting dressed before he made his way over to the boy's room, stopping when he heard mumbling. Quietly putting his ear to the door, he pulled back and sighed lightly, knocking twice. "Kazuma, you awake?"

Kazuma visibly jumped when he heard a knock at his door. When he heard Xantrex he scrambled out of bed and changed into fresh clothes. "Yes," he called as he rushed to the bathroom, making sure he didn't look like he'd spent most of the night crying like the twelve year old he was. He couldn't bring life to his empty blue eyes, but he did wash his face. He then walked over to the door and opened it, looking at Xantrex. "You needed something," he asked.

Xantrex heard Kazuma scrambling around, and only leaned on the wall next to the door, waiting til the kid opened it before he pushed himself off the wall. He looked over Kazuma once, with a pause, as if deciding what to say. Usually he didn't bother with thinking about his words, and just blurted them out. Unfortunately, there was now a child who took those words to heart in his midst. "Are you..." A pause. "Sure you're going to be up to doing this today?" He looked to the side, a clear look of conflict and irritation passing over his face. "It's not like we have time to waste, but if you're not, I'll get started, and explain everything to you once you're better." His eyebrow twitched a bit. Being kind in such an obvious manner really wasn't his thing.

Kazuma understood what Xantrex was saying, but he also knew they had a strict deadline. "I'm fine," Kazuma said quickly. He didn't want Xan to have to waste time informing him. And truth be told, Kazuma wasn't sure he'd ever get over this. What promtped him not to take advantage of Xantrex's kindness, was the look of irritation he'd witnessed, the guy clearly wasn't used to being kind. Kazuma expected nothing less, they were apart of the Akatsuki. "I'm ready when you are." Lies. Kazuma would rather die than work on this project. What if it went wrong? He'd have brutally murdered his sister and Xan would be killed and then he'd be stuck here all on his lonesome. Kazuma held back a sigh. They should go ahead and do this now before he had a mental breakdown.

Xantrex was actually surprised the kid didn't take him up on his offer. And relieved. He hadn't taken on a student to have him sitting around sulking. Then again, he'd never planned on having Kazuma kill his own family, either. Damn that Deidara, he really was just trying to write out a death sentence. All that guy was doing was slowing down what should have been a perfectly easy procedure. "Alright. Come on then," he said, walking towards his room.

Underneath his room, there was a large space cleared out which was filled with all sorts of things, from books to vials, to odd looking machines. The smell of chemicals was clear in the air, though it was obvious Xan was used to it. It was really a wonder the smell never left the room. In the back of the large basement-like room was Kazuma's sister, laying fully clothed, but out cold on what looked like an operating table of some sort. Of course, they weren't actually going to operate on her. Yet, anyhow. He paused and looked at Kazuma. "How's your stomach? I'd really rather you not throw up in the middle of this," he asked.

Kazuma followed Xan to the lab. The place reeked of chemicals. It was enough to mae Kazuma frowned with disgust. How did Xantrex manage in this place? Then again, Kazuma had never had the luxury of being exposed to chemicals because all his work had to be done in secret and chemicals were hard to get a hold of. The blue eyed youngster looked at Xantrex when asked the question. "Strong enough to survive this stench," he grumbled. He had no idea why he'd need a strong stomach, but he figured it was for a reason. Besides, he'd thrown up everything last night, so there was nothing left to throw up. Kazuma just hoped that he wouldn't be given the honor to drill into his sister's brain. That was not something he wanted to do. He could barely look at her as it was. He wanted to know if she was dead already, but didn't have the heart to ask, or the sanity to be curious of the answer.

"This?" Xantrex chuckled. "You get used to this in less than an hour, trust me." That is, unless the kid would rather focus on the stench than on his work. That was how Xantrex got through it. Just focused on his work until someone called him out of his little hole in the ground. Going over to a small desk, Xantrex pulled out what looked like a handheld recorder from one of the drawers. Clicking it, he held it up to his mouth, but not too closely before speaking. "Scientists in question, Xantrex Mabashi and Kazuma Saitou. Date is December twentieth, 2024. First test subject is female, Caucasian, and shall be dubbed subject 0001 until further instruction." He paused and unclicked the recorder to look at Kazuma. "How old is she, and how long has she been a ninja?" he asked.

Kazuma frowned. Less than an hour? Yeah right, it'd take a lifetime. Kazuma watched Xantrex closely, he was supposed to be learning after all. When Xantrex began recording, Kazuma remained extremely silent until spoken to. "She's 21," he said. "And she's been a ninja since the day she could walk apparently...." There was a small pause and then he corrected himself. "Since she was four. Seventeen years total." He knew this was no time to be a smart ass, but his sisters and their over achievements really ticked him off. Why wouldn't anyone give him recognition?

Xantrex listened to the kid as he corrected himself, but didn't say anything on it. In Xan's opinion, it was fine to be pissed off at them. He just wished the kid would decide one way or the other. Whether he wanted to be pissed off at them and glad they were dead, or guilty about killing them. He clicked the recorder. "Age twenty-one, ninja of the Snow for seventeen years. Currently the test subject is unconscious, as of roughly fourteen hours ago." He paused and looked at a clock on the desk. He'd forgotten to state the time. "Time is ten seventeen am." He clicked the recorder off and there was a long pause. Had he forgotten anything else? He didn't believe so. Putting the recorder down, Xantrex walked over to the table. He'd thought of the perfect jutsu the night before to knock the girl unconscious before she'd thawed. It limited the amount of oxygen she was taking in to just barely alive. He looked at Kazuma for a moment. He wasn't sure what to say. He was going to kill her now, just...felt odd about doing it without saying anything to Kazuma. Everything was all ready. There were machines commonly used in hospitals hooked up to the girl to monitor heart rate and respiration and the such. "....Are you ready to start? The machines are going to stop in a moment," he told Kazuma, hoping the kid would get the hint, that the machines weren't really going to stop, but rather, everything they were there to measure, was.

Kazuma felt his heart skip a beat when Xantrex said his sister was only unconscious. When informed that she was about to be killed, Kazuma swallowed, not sure he could handle this. He would be responsible for two murders and to think he'd never killed anyone before this. Maybe it would have been easier had he killed someone before, but no...his sisters were his first kill. Kazuma suddenly felt sicker than before. He gave the weakest nod in response to Xantrex's question. He tried directing his gaze somewhere other than where his sister was, but knew that the machines would start beeping when it could no longer read the heartbeat. Kazuma wished he didn't have to be here for this. Why couldn't Xantrex have killed her before coming to get him?

Xantrex looked at Kazuma, and could've sworn he'd seen the kid's face pale. He shook his head lightly, then waved Kazuma away. "Go wait up in my room. I'll call you down in a few minutes. Try not to throw up on my stuff," he told his student, crossing his arms and waiting. He'd already killed one of his sisters, and Xantrex was sure this wasn't going to get any easier for the boy as time went along. The least he could do was make sure he didn't have to see his other sister get killed.

........Wait, had that thought actually come unconsciously?

Kazuma was relieved both mentally and visibly when Xantrex waved him away, telling him to go wait upstairs. Kazuma had no complaints as he hurried up the stairs. Considering that he didn't want to throw up all over Xan's stuff, he ran to his room and threw up. "I can't do this," he groaned. "He's going to kill my sister and I'm helping him use her as a lab rat," he said as he broke down into tears. He didn't want to sit there crying, or taking too long because he wasn't sure how long his mentor would be. Getting up and washing his face and hands, he headed back to Xantrex's room.

Jaymaru was getting a snack out of the kitchen and on her way back to her room when she saw Kazuma running from Xan's room. The purple haired Akatsuki shook her head and walked very slowly down the hall, heading towards the blue haired youth's room, stopping at the door when she heard him crying. Had Xantrex stabbed him again? Surely his kindness from four days ago had not worn off, had it? Jaymaru chuckled. Of course it had, Xantrex was evil, there was no good in that man's heart. She started for the blond's room, stopping again when she heard Kazuma come out. "Hey Kazuma, you okay?" She asked.

Kazuma was surprised to see Jaymaru. He gave a small nod when she asked if he was okay. "I'm fine. I'm just a tad hungry is all," he said, not noting that she had an apple and juice in her hand. It was a cover story, but he was hungry. He hadn't eaten since yesterday and that had all been regurgitated into the toilet. "I have to get back to Xan," he stated. "We're finally working on the Super Soldier Project." Where he'd once been ecstatic about the project, he no longer had that glow because of the test subject that was being used.

Jaymaru blinked when he said he was hungry and that he was on his way to work on the Project. "Well, in that case, here," she said handing him the apple and juice. "Eat that so you don't pass out. Once Xantrex gets into his work it takes a miracle to get him out of it. You'll die in that hole if you don't eat now." She gave a soft smile, wondering why he was no longer happy about the project. Probably just Xantrex being a jerk again. She shrugged it off. "Good luck, and tell Xantrex to remember that you need to be feed every now and then," she said with a small wave as she headed back to the kitchen.

Kazuma was beyond grateful. If he didn't think he'd be crossing a boundary he would have hugged her. "Thank you so much," he said with a bow. He then smiled when she wished him good luck and sent him off with a joke. Kazuma wasn't sure if he should eat considering it might be coming back up, but he did so anyway. Devouring the apple in a few bites and then drinking down the juice in a matter of seconds, he disposed of the remains and went back into Xan's room, waiting for the mad scientist to call him down.

In the time that Kazuma had been gone upstairs, Xantrex had gone to work cutting off more and more of the girl's air supply until the monitors showed that she was dead, at which time he made a few more recordings and put a jutsu on the girl's body to heighten the speed at which the cells decomposed, just so they wouldn't have to waste time waiting around. He wasn't entirely sure how that would affect the flow of the virus, but he was willing to try until he got it right. Assuming he'd be alive long enough. Taking a few more recorded notes, Xantrex finally put the recorder down, noting as well that the body looked very much the same as it did only minutes before when it had finally died. "Kazuma. You can come back down," he called up.

Kazuma took in a deep breath and then started down the stairs when Xantrex called him down. He did not want to go back down there, but he did, with his head held high. However, when he saw his sister, his gaze dropped and his stomach did a small flip, which made him want to throw up as he turned a light shade of green. The smell of the room didn't help. "What do you want me to do," he asked. He was hoping nothing except observe, but he knew that was too much to hope for.

Xantrex waited for Kazuma to come down, looking at the kid as the boy looked at his sister, noting the change in color. This was going to be a pain in the ass. The best thing to do would probably be to just push through this small dilemma, but Xan wasn't naive enough to believe it would be that easy. This kid was soft after a kill. Easily distracted, but it at least seemed like he was trying to pull himself together. The whole time Kazuma was away, while Xantrex had been working, he'd also been thinking about what to have Kazuma do. He still wasn't entirely sure. This kid was turning out to be more work than he'd expected. He handed the recorder to Kazuma. "Record what I'm doing. Try to use objective speech, like I did earlier. It makes it easier to write down later," he said.

Xantrex started to turn away from Kazuma, but then paused. "Know what..." he muttered. "Close your eyes for a minute kid." He was gonna try to make it so the kid wasn't so hesitant. And he was gonna try and find out some things about Kazuma while he was at it. But first, he started a jutsu once Kazuma had closed his eyes. He swore he was getting soft. When Kazuma next opened his eyes, he would find that only one thing had changed. The body was no longer that of his sisters, but instead that of a female Xantrex remembered he'd killed some time go. It didn't weigh anything on his conscience. It was only a genjutsu of course, and it was on Kazuma, not on the body, so Xantrex had no worries of it affecting the proceedings. "You can open them. Now let's get started," he said. He hated that he had done that. But once things got going, he was going to take it off. Doing the procedure was one thing. Reteaching her to act as they instructed was something that shouldn't have made Kazuma sick in the least.

Kazuma took the recorded and nodded. It was a simple job and it meant he didn't have to get his hands dirtier than they already where. When he was told to close his eyes, he was a bit confused, but did so without question. He had no idea what Xantrex was planning, but he was praying it wouldn't result in his demise. He'd learned the hard way that Xantrex wasn't very trustworthy. When he opened his eyes and saw that his sister was no longer there, or rather, she'd been replaced with a woman he did not know, he felt a bit happier. To say he didn't need that genjutsu would have been a lie. Kazuma was very thankful for Xantrex's odd kindness. He gave another nod when Xantrex said it was time to start. He clicked the recorder on, ready to record everything that was being done.

Xantrex was fairly grateful to find that the kid didn't have anything to say. He didn't want to be questioned on this. Else he might've removed the genjutsu altogether and just let the kid suffer. He didn't understand why these strange acts of kindness were occurring. He had to be losing his mind to think that he was becoming an even slightly civil human being. So instead of saying anything like he normally would have, he simply got the needle with the virus in it and looked the body over for a point of injection. He decided upon the girl's carotid artery. Placing the needle in her neck, he silently injected the nonliving substance. It was a good thing that even with the dead blood cells, the virus moved of its own accord. The thing was like a cancer, multiplying until it had taken over the entire body. He glanced to Kazuma to make sure the kid was taking down what he was doing in the recorder.

Kazuma watched Xantrex carefully as he worked. The blue haired boy recorded everything with brief speech until Xantrex looked at him. "Something wrong," he asked casually. Kazuma had almost forgotten that this was his sister. "Wouldn't it be interesting if we could actually watch the virus work under a high powered microscope? That way we could better understand how it works. There were no indications in the records that they did that, it could probably be beneficial." Kazuma gave a small shrug. He was so bright eyed at that very moment that one would think he was reborn.

Xantrex blinked briefly when Kazuma asked if there was something wrong. "No. Nothing's wrong. You're doing well," he said simply, removing the needle. He paused in putting the needle into a solution when Kazuma spoke up about watching the virus work, turning his head to look at the boy. After a moment, the blond scientist grinned. "Yeah sure. Go into that closet over there. There's a microscope in there. Be careful with it, it's the only one I have right now," Xantrex said, putting the needle into a solution before going over to a sink and washing his hands.

Kazuma felt like he'd just entered heaven. He was going to watch a virus work under a microscope. His blue eyes shinned even brighter. Not bothering to hide how excited he was, he hurried over to the closet and opened it up, getting the microscope and being as careful as any human could be, went back over to his mentor. "If all of this stuff is basically banned, how do you get so much of it," he asked. "Black market, private dealer?" Kazuma was curious. He was back into his learning mood and nothing could make him stop. He'd even forgotten the horrid stench of the room.
