Felix sighed. "Why ask such a rhetorical question as that?" Felix lifted his hand. "Had you seen his future you wouldn't have been able to change it. It's just life, things happen." He turned his head to the side. "Hunter...well, his time came early, maybe there's a reason behind it." He looked at her. "I'll look into it if you want me to," he said. "But on a serious note, Hunter wouldn't want you like this, no one would."

Serenity didn't look up until Felix said that he could look into why Hunter had died so early. "No," she said quickly. She knew why. But she didn't want Felix to. He might leave her. But at the same time, on the opposite end of the spectrum, she wanted to tell him because she figured if he found out some other way, he might leave her that way. "I...." she looked back down. "I know why he died........." she said. He kept saying that Hunter wouldn't want her like this. That no one would want her like this. The one person he refused to mention was himself.

He wanted to ask her how she knew, but he didn't want to bring on more sadness. If she knew why that was good enough for him. "Tell me what you want," he said. "Anything." He paused. "I'm here for you right now, nothing more, nothing less." He slowly stood up and walked over to her. "Just tell me."

Serenity looked at Felix blankly for a moment as he said for her to tell him what she wanted, then got up and walked over to her. In all honesty...all she really wanted right now was....well....to die. But she couldn't tell Felix that. She didn't know how he'd respond but she was sure it wouldn't be good. But otherwise....she didn't know what she wanted that would make her feel any better. A thought popped into her head. Maybe..... "Will you tell me about Mer?" she asked. She didn't want to push her luck but....it would definitely take her mind off of what'd happened.

Talk about being crushed. Felix felt like it was his time to break but he stood his ground. "Mer..." He said the name in almost a breathless whisper. He had to do this for Serenity. Sitting down on the floor he positioned himself against the couch. "Her real name was Meridian," he said. "But we all called her Mer for short." Felix almost cracked a smile. "She had long orange hair," he said. "And she was a real sweet girl. We met by accident though." Felix looked down at the floor. "Friend of mine got sick, and I ended up going to the wrong room and there she was. Gazing out a window singing like there was nothing to it." Felix swallowed. "She loved to sing." Felix wasn't sure he ccould go on without his eyes at least watering.

Serenity looked at Felix as he moved to the ground. She couldn't see his face anymore, but she listened almost blankly as he spoke, a small smile crossing her face as he described her. "Was she pretty?" she asked with the same small smile. Her chest still hurt, and she still felt like crying, but her mind was slowly getting off the subject of Hunter's death. She wanted to hear more about Mer, but she didn't want to make Felix say too much. She knew she'd hurt him just by asking....But she wasn't able to help herself.

Felix gave a small laugh. "Was she pretty? Of course she was," he said. "She was...I wish..." Felix stopped. "She had the brightest blue eyes that you could have ever seen," he said. "And she was always smiling." Felix didn't know what to say. He gave a sigh. "She was perfect." Felix put his hand to his face. "Talk about getting lucky," he said. He then reached into shirt and pulled out a silver locket with blue trim. "Here." He said handing her the locket. "This...this is her."

Mer

Serenity couldn't help but to look shocked as Felix laughed. She'd never heard him laugh before now. She smiled as he said that Mer was perfect, and that he was lucky. I think she was the lucky one, she thought with a smile. Serenity let her legs fall off the end of the couch, finally bringing them away from her chest as Felix handed her the locket. She took it gently and opened it, her eyes brightening slightly as she saw the picture. "She was very beautiful," she said with a smile. She looked at it for a few moments more before handing it back to Felix. She stayed silent for a few seconds before sliding down on the floor next to him and embracing him in a hug. But unlike most other times Serenity hugged him, which were all from being either excited or extremely happy, this one was different. It was more....heartfelt. "Thank you Felix," she said. "You don't have to tell me anymore," she said with a small smile. She felt as if she'd taken advantage of him through that small request. And she didn't want Felix to tell her too much if he wasn't ready for it. After all, she had sprung that request on him from out of nowhere. Serenity pulled back from the hug, expecting that he was getting sick of her random hugs as well as her crying.

Felix spoke not a word when she commented on Mer. He then took the locket back without looking up and then froze as she slid to the ground next to him and enclosed him in hug. Telling him that he didn't have to say anymore. Don't patronize me. Do not let me voice those feelings long since passed and then stop me. Putting out the flames of those memories I secretly long for. Felix looked at her from the corner of his eyes as she pulled away. "Sorrow is no more than bliss waiting to be exposed." He said. Serenity had lost Hunter, Felix had found his forgotten love, and thus their sorrows became filled with the bliss of comfort from the other. How bittersweet.

Serenity looked at Felix as he spoke in a riddle again. She gave a soft smile. "Is this you saying that you do in fact want to continue?" she asked. She didn't want him to continue if he didn't want to. She enjoyed learning about Mer, but not if it hurt Felix. She kind of....well, kind of wanted to know what kind of girl Mer was. For a reason a bit more selfish than curiosity, but she would never admit that aloud of course. Serenity sat on the floor next to Felix, her eyes on him, waiting for his answer. With just that little bit he'd told her about Mer, she already felt a bit better than before.

Felix looked at her. "Not even close," he said. "It means that there's comfort in loss." It was probably the first time he'd even given some insight on one of his riddles. Probably because it was meant for him, and Serenity of course. Felix leaned his back against the couch. He wanted to tell her more, but he wasn't sure if he could without breaking down. But on the other side he wanted to know more about Jake. It was funny how they were interested in the others loved one, but couldn't bring themselves to even get along. Maybe this was their way of getting to know one another better.

Serenity looked at Felix as he said that there was comfort in loss. Maybe....but it seems there's more comfort in other's losses....because then we know that we're not alone.... she thought, but didn't say it aloud. Deep thought and insight were Felix's thing. But at the same time, she wanted to say it, it being her way of saying it's okay without making Felix feel as if she was feeling sorry for him. In all reality, she felt sorry for every living thing. To have to live in a world like this... Serenity brought herself to give Felix a small smile. "Maybe there is comfort in loss, but...it's hardly ever our own loss we take comfort in," she said with the same small smile. "Knowing of others losses let's us know that we're not alone." She felt much better than she had before. And, as corny as it sounded....it was all thanks to Felix. She never thought that he'd be there for her the way he had been this day. He was much more patient with her than she'd expected him to be.

Felix nodded. "No one finds comfort in their own loss unless they really, really, hate that person," he said. Suprisingly Felix hated no one, he just didn't like Hunter. It might have been out of jealousy, but regardless he didn't like the fact that he died just like that. It wasn't suddenly, but it was just when he was getting close to Serenity. Felix stole a glance at her. When will you find peace? And stop hiding behind false joy.

Serenity gave a smile as Felix said that no one takes comfort in their own losses unless it was someone they hated. "If it was someone hated, it wouldn't be much of a loss then, would it?" she asked. Serenity gave a small sigh, then leaned her head back on the couch, looking up at the ceiling with an almost blank expression on her face. She hadn't noticed the glance that Felix had given her. Her mind was running through all of the time she'd spent with Hunter, only it was glimpses of the times, speeding by as if in fast motion. But weren't all memories like that? You could never have a full, complete memory....only glimpses of what'd happened...

Felix shook his head. "Everyone has some sympathy. It's just not all of us show it." He then watched her as she looked up at the ceiling. What are you thinkingg about? He smirked. "Serenity, if you don't mind, tell me about Jake." He wanted to know about the man she'd fallen for. The one she'd been engaged with. Felix had never been this curious in his immortal life.

Serenity froze as Felix asked if she'd tell him about Jake. It's only fair, I guess, she thought. "Yeah, sure," she said with a soft smile. She slowly got up and went over to one of the cabinets that was in the livingroom and took a rolled up sheet of paper out before walking back over to Felix. She handed it to him before sitting back down next to him on the floor. "This was him," she said with a half-hearted smile. It'd taken a long time for her to get that picture just right, having drawn it herself, since there were no cameras in her time. She'd had to draw it from memory, before his face had faded from it. "Well, what can I say..." she said with a smile and a small laugh. "He had a fighter's spirit, for sure," she said with a smile at the thought. "He loved going everywhere, and always brought an upbeat attitude with him," she said. "He wasn't really much of an artist, but he made the maps when we went on our little treasure hunts," she said with a sad smile, looking at the floor. "My little sister came along with us most of the time, but he never minded it. He liked just about everyone he came into contact with," she said, her eyes still on the ground with a sad smile on her face. It hurt to remember him, but at the same time, she was glad she still could.

Felix looked at her as she got up. He wasnt sure if she was upset or what but when she came back with a rolled up sheet of paper. Taking the paper he looked at it. Felix bowed his head and a light laugh escaped him. "He's okay." It was all he could say to her about the guy. Felix didn't do all that other stuff, he was a guy. He handed the paper back to Serenity. How had she preserved the picture all thatt time. It was fairly well drawn.

Serenity looked at Felix with an almost shocked expression that turned into a smile when she heard him give a light laugh. She liked this side of Felix. The one that let a laugh out every now and then. But she knew that after this night it probably wouldn't last very long. Serenity took the paper back when he handed it to her and looked at it with a sad smile before rolling it back up. "You wouldn't have been able to guess it from just looking, but he came from something of a noble family," she said with a smile, laying the paper on her lap gently. It seemed that she touched that particular article with extreme care. She'd also drawn a picture of Liora, but Felix had only asked to know about Jake. Oh, if Felix had asked about Liora, she would've had alot to say about her little sister, that was for sure. "Our village was relatively small, and his family was one of fighters. They protected our village. So when Jake refused to fight, well....it was village-wide news, not just family news," she said with a small smile. She remembered that oh-too-well. She gave a small laugh. "He was something of a rebel, if you want to put it in that sense," she said with a smile.

Felix wanted to ask her more, but didn't go on. Though he was going to ask her about her little sister. He wasn't sure if right now was the time though. It seemed as though things were a bit, well saddening. But what he wanted to really ask her was about Hunter. About if she'd draw him to keep as a life long memory. He shook his head. "What about you sister?" He asked. Felix had no siblings. He was an only child, but in the past that never kept him from being a bit lively.

Serenity looked at Felix as he asked about her sister. She then got up again and went over to the same cabinet as before, putting away Jake’s picture gently, then taking out another piece of paper. She walked back over to Felix and sat back down next to him. “This is her,” she said. “Her name was Liora. She was a year younger than me, and sometimes people mistook us for twins by accident,” she said with a small smile. She remembered it too well. “She was always smiling. Never wanted to face reality, yet at the same time didn’t believe in such things as curses and bad luck. That’s why she never had a problem with looking for cursed treasures,” she said with a small laugh.

“After our parents died though….well she didn’t change much, but we got much closer. We had to do…well,” she looked off to the side a little. “What some would call a performance, to be able to keep ourselves fed. She would dance, and I would sing,” she said. “Thankfully one of the villagers knew our father and gave us a job at his shop doing our performance,” she said. “Liora loved it. She was a dancer by nature, same as our mom,” she said with a sad smile. “Sure she had an attitude a lot of the time, but it was how we managed with some of the people that came into the place,” she said with a laugh, remembering one incident.

“Once, there was quite an incident. I was about 14, Liora was 13. We were performing, and this one drunk man tried grabbing my sister’s leg. She tried to pull away from him, and the performance was disrupted of course. I went up to the man and kicked him square in the face,” she said with a laugh. “Granted, I was a lot more violent then than I am now,” she said. “The man was banned from coming back after that,” she said with a small grin at the memory. She was sure that Felix was the only one she would ever share these memories with, because he was the only one that she would only have to tell once.

Felix listened very quietly as she spoke. He looked at the pictures. It was true, they did look alike. Had been been five hundred years older he'd be able to see both of them in person, but he wasn't. "You sing?" Was all that was on his mind when she'd finished. Though he didn't say much about it he enjoyed for a person to sing. That was why he'd fallen for Mer, and now Aiko, though he would never say it aloud. He then looked at her. "You were a fighter? Heh, what happened?" Of course it was a rhetorical question but he couldn't help it.

Serenity only looked to the side with a light shade of blush when he asked that she sung. "Well, I used to. I haven't sung anything in a while," she said, looking back at him with a small smile. Serenity let a small grin come over her face as he asked that she was a fighter. "I had to be, for me and my sister's sakes. Someone had to take care of us. Me and her used to train with each other a bit in our spare time, to make sure we were never caught off our guard," she said. She shrugged when he asked what happened. "Not too sure. I kinda gave up on it after....well....after everyone moved on," she said with a small smile.

All Felix could manage was a nod of his head. Secretly he was a bit downed when she told him she no longer sung, well hadn't sung in a while. "Well, okay then," he said when she finished altogether. He'd offer to take her out for some training, but she didn't need it since she was immortal after all. Some things people just didn't need, or thought they didn't need.

Serenity looked at Felix with a smile when he just said okay then. "What, would you rather me have still been aggressive like I used to be?" she asked with a smile. She was feeling much better than before. In fact....she'd almost forgotten why she'd been so sad before. She was starting to think....well maybe this was the most time she'd actually ever spent with Felix that actually meant something to her.

Felix just barely came short of a laugh at that question. She knew what he wanted. He'd love for her to be less hopeless, but at the same time, he loved that side of her that was childish. It balanced him out, so he was okay with it. "I've no answer to that question," he said. He stayed silent for a moment. "Sing something," he said quietly.
